Overview
Brooke Thomas of Brooke Thomas Casting and Mary Egan Callahan of House Casting, casting directors in New York City, have been teaching an on-camera commercial intensive class since 2001 under the name "Brooke and Mary". At each class we work on-camera with cue cards and commercial copy. Class size is limited to 15 students. At the final class we invite 2 commercial talent agents to watch you work, answer questions and give some feedback. Brooke and Mary also offer some tips on marketing yourself as a commercial actor.
Who should take the class?
Our classes fill up with everyone from unsigned, non-union aspirers looking to get into the business to established actors looking to improve and hone their performance techniques for commercial auditions. Please note that our classes are for students 18 and over.
What will you learn in the class?
You will learn how to bring out the best of yourself in a commercial audition. This includes tips, techniques, and personalized coaching on how to be comfortable reading commercial copy from cue cards directly into the camera and making the copy your own by incorporating improvisation into your audition. You'll also learn a few do's and don't's in the realms of casting directors.
Where are the classes held?
Classes are held at Envision Studios. 60 Madison Avenue, Suite 601, NY, NY 10010 (between 26th and 27th Streets)
What is the cost of the class and how do I pay?
The cost of the entire 3-night class is $450.00. We accept online payments only. Payment must be made in order to register for the class.
Is there a wait list?
As our classes sell out very quickly we do not have a formal wait list. Once you sign up for a class and make your payment, if something opens up in an earlier class we offer those seats to our students who have paid in full.
What if I book a job and can't take the class that I registered for?
If you book a job or something comes up we will do everything we can to re-sell your seat. If ample time is given we will gladly refund your payment or move you to a future class.
